Preparing the way for Jack

James and I spent the weekend cleaning house. We've begun preparing a nursery for Jack. We have got a long way yet to go, but we've made great strides. Since the nursery will be in our bedroom, we've relocated to the spare room. James, the painting professional, has selected paint colors for the nursery and we've decided on a theme - sock monkeys with a twist.
We'll post some pictures after we get the room put together, which I hope is pretty soon!

Daddy got a kick from Jack!

Jack's kicks have been strong enough for Mamma to feel for a few weeks. This week, Jack has become extremely active. His punches and kicks have gotten more frequent and much stronger. It's apparent that he's practicing some kung-foo fighting. For the past few days, Mamma has been awakened before 6:00 a.m. to kicking, jumping and general getting-down. This morning, at about 5:30, Jack woke Mamma with some kicking and jabbing. Mamma put Daddy's hand on her belly just in time for Daddy to experience a swift and very strong kick! We're so excited and proud of our boy!

The doctor says Jack looks good!

We saw the doctor for a second ultrasound in his office this week. The ultrasound technician examined Jack rather thoroughly. (She confirmed that Jack is a baby boy.) After reviewing the ultrasound, Dr. Lebder said that Jack is developing nicely. He has a heart with four chambers, a developing brain, stomach, kidneys, etc. Dr. Lebder says that he thinks Jack looks good. We're very pleased and getting excited.

The problem with having an ultrasound is that momma-to-be becomes compelled to buy little baby boy clothes - shoes, sleepers, tiny cardigans and plaid pants. Good thing no more ultrasounds are planned!

It's a BOY!

SWEET BABY JACK

Courtesy of my cousin, Robin, James & I were able to have an ultrasound the day after Christmas. The very nice ultrasound tech, Christine, said "Do you want to know the gender?" James and I said that we did and she immediately responded, "It's a boy." He's not shy. Christine confirmed our due date of late May and said that the baby weighs about 9 ounces! Big boy.

We've pretty well decided on Jack as a first name. We're discussing middle names. Luke suggested "Magnum" or "Magnus." Admittedly, both would be good names. Of course, Jedi (Powers), Healing (Powers) and Super (Powers) still get a lot of consideration! Ha!

So, as James mentioned yesterday, we are embarking on an adventure . . . Baby Powers, seen at the left at 12 weeks, is due May 26, 2009. We're very excited. But, at the same time, we are both very aware of the fact that our lives will be forever changed next spring. One of our lives has already changed and her clothes no longer fit! Ha! Hopefully, at our second ultrasound, we will know whether we will have a little Jack or little Grace.

New SpringWidget

This One's on Fred

So now Lyn and I, like the others, have a blogspot. We are, after all, going through one of life's great adventures for the first, and hopefully last, time. I hope noone reads this. The main reason for this is to call out Sam and Fred, mainly Fred, for their failure to update their blog for OVER TWO MONTHS. This is just not acceptable. This is my primary source of enjoyment in life. I hope noone reads this. And how are we going to know what Jonas wore to school last Thursday if Fred doesn't put pictures of the outfit on the World Wide Web for Everyone to see? Meredith is very good about updating her blog. Lyn and I went to the zoo with their family and when we got home there were already pictures of it on their blog! I had forgotten so much of what had happened two hours earlier that it was such a joy to relive it all again via the internet. So basically this is Fred's fault. We plan to put pictures on at some point then noone will have to read what I have to say.
